The Primary Tour Itinerary Includes:

Day 1

Individual arrivals to our hotel in Taormina Welcome reception followed by dinner

Day 2

This morning we head toward Castiglione di Sicilia on Mount Etna for a cooking class at Santoro Country House. We will assist in the preparation of some traditional Sicilian dishes, which we will enjoy for lunch. After lunch we will visit two of the finest wine producers on the slopes of Mount Etna.

Day 3

Depart Taormina for the city of Siracusa, where we will have a guided tour of the ancient city. We’ll allow time for lunch on your own before resuming our journey. Afterwards we will depart for Modica to visit the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, the oldest confectionary shop on Sicily where we will learn the secret of Modican chocolate.

Day 4

This morning we will depart Taormina and head west toward Agrigento with a stop in Piazza Amerina and visit the remains of the 4th century AD residential Villa Romana del Casale to see some of the most well-preserved mosaics of the Roman world. Arrive Planeta Wine Estate and check in to La Foresteria.

Day 5

While Siracusa is famous for its ancient ruins, it is difficult to top the magnificent “Valley of the Temples” at Agrigento, which we will visit today, with our expert guide. We will return to Planeta to spend the afternoon exploring the wines, vineyards and culinary treasures of the estate. Afterward we will have a cooking lesson and dinner at La Foresteria.

Day 6

This morning we’ll begin the journey to Palermo with a drive up the coast to Marsala to learn about Marsala wines. We will also visit the famous Salt Pans and see the traditional way the salt is mined from the sea. Continue to Palermo and check in to our hotel. Later we will meet our guide for a walking food and historical tour of this fascinating city!

Day 7

We will meet our local guide this morning for a walking tour of Palermo. Afterwards, you will have time on your own to enjoy some street food, shop, visit the beautiful botanical gardens, tour the stunning mosques, churches and palaces.

Day 8

Today we will visit the Arab-Norman village of Monreale and the medieval village of Cefalu. We will have time to explore the narrow streets, white sand beaches, and enjoy lunch al fresco before returning to Palermo. This evening we will meet for an aperitivo and farewell dinner in Palermo.

Day 9

Tour ends after breakfast. Grazie e Arrivederci!
