Piedmont Italy: White Truffles and Wine

The Primary Tour Itinerary Includes:

Day 1

- Arrive and check into Castello Di Villa/Sunstar Resort.

- Welcome reception and dinner at hotel.

Day 2

- Wine tasting in the Langhe region (Barolo and Barbaresco Cru vineyards). Cellar tour and tastings of several DOCG vintages.

- Lunch at a trattoria in the quaint village of Barbaresco.

- Afternoon visit of the medieval village of Barolo and it’s wine museum and enoteca

Day 3

- Day trip to Torino (Turin). Guided walking historical and food tour. Torino is known for chocolate, hazelnuts, and Nutella!

- Free time for shopping, lunch, etc.

- Group dinner in the charming village of Neive, 13th century walled city voted one of the most beautiful villages in Italy!

Day 4

-Guided visit of Castello Grinzane Cavour, a UNESCO world heritage site, followed by free time in the wine shop and enoteca at the castle. Lunch will be a local artisan cheese maker.

-- Hands on cooking class this afternoon. A wide variety of wines including Piedmont Chardonnay, Barbera, Barbaresco, Barolo and Moscato will be served along with the four course meal we will be preparing.

Day 5

- Authentic white truffle hunt followed by lunch, featuring truffles that we find, and wines of the estate including Cortese, Grignolino, Barbera d’Asti DOCG wines.

- Visit the annual truffle fair in Alba, time to shop, explore, have dinner on your own.

Day 6

- Depart Castello di Villa for Vercelli, an important center for the cultivation of rice. Explanation and tour of the farm followed by a risotto cooking lesson and lunch.

- Continue to Lago Maggiore and the town of Stresa.

- Check into Hotel La Palma in Lago Maggiore.

- Free to explore and have dinner on your own

Day 7

- Private all day guided boat tour of the Borromean islands: Isola Bella with it’s 17th century palace and terraced gardens, Isola Pescatori for lunch, and Isola Madre with it’s 16th century villa and botanical gardens.

- Tonight we will enjoy our final dinner together at a nearby restaurant, with wine of course!
